Using Masks in Paint Shop Pro X4 (and upwards)

It's always a joy to discover you can do something in Paint Shop Pro that Photo Shop afficionados believe can only be done in Photo Shop. I had read somewhere that masks could be used easily in PSP X4 but couldn't find a tutorial anywhere. So I wrote my own - with the aid of the PSP manual. When in doubt read the instructions!

You do need paint Shop Pro X4 for this method. Whilst I prefer my beloved version 8 for some things, version earlier than X4 need such a clumsy and time-consuming way of using masks that you might as well save your time and buy X4.

Do NOT miss out any steps in this tutorial. I have people say to me in Facebook groups, "I couldn't get it to work. I think I missed a step." Duh.

The layout below was made with a background from Seashells and Seashores by Raspberry Road Designs.
