Page-Within-A-Page
This design idea developed by accident. I love making Smilebox albums. You can print these as well as show them online but you can only save them at 2400 x 2400 dpi so that means you can only get good 8" x 8" prints. If you print them 12" x 12" they will look a bit grainy. Since I like having 12" x 12" prints I had to find a solution. I could add lots of borders or put more than one Smilebox page onto my 12" x 12" page.
You will also find it useful if you have sets of quickpages that are only 2400 x 2400. I have lots of older ones that are only small. TIP: Make sure you label them as 2400 if you do have any of these.
Here are just a few ways I've used this page-within-a-page technique:
Add a fancy background to the smaller page
The Smilebox album of our cruise on the Caronia (Now the Saga Ruby) in 2004 was a rather formal looking album so I put the page straight on the background, which was a stacked paper arrangement from Something Nautical by Rina Kroes. I added a plain paper behind it and slanted that then added the bunting and the seagull. Seagulls are compulsory! Bunting and hearts are from Lindsay Jane's Sea Breeze. This is the first page in my larger album.
Four Layouts on One Page
Here are FOUR more Caronia page on one page and that's all I did - I just lined up the four pages.

I only made thirteen digital layouts. I might make some more later. It was shortly after this cruise that I started digital scrapbooking. The printed album is a mish mash of paper layouts and digital layouts made with Memory Mixer, Scrapbook Factory (useless!) and Smilebox.

Two 8" x 8" pages on a 12" x 12" page
I made a Smilebox album of a beach day back in 2010. It was very very hot but about 6pm and the sea wasn't very blue. So when I made the 12" x 12" pages I used a kit from my "Tropical - Muted" collection to pick up the brighter colours from the Smilebox pages. The kit is Summer Girl by Jenn Barrette. Here's one of the pages:
Three pages on one 12" x 12" layout
The Smilebox pages I made for my Morocco album were pretty minimalist and I was two pages short for my 12" x 12" album. In other words I miscounted the page protectors! My solution was to put three pages onto a photo background with some extra bling. As you can see, one of the small photos is falling off the page! Mix it up!
We had a glorious day at the beach on 30 September 2011. We've never been to the beach in the UK that late in the year. I got carried away with these pages. I used quickpages for some of the background and added extra photos and embellies.
