Matching Up

The perceived wisdom in scrapbooking and other crafts is don't be too matchy-uppy. I'm guilty of that. I like to coordinate everything especially when making quilts and matching jewellery to fancy frocks.

Do whatever you like! Sometimes the colours or style on a page just beg you to match them up with something.

Just a few examples:

All the colours

Every colour ended up on this page, starting with the photo of crocheted and knitted scarves hanging in our hall and the colourful daffodils in our kitchen. I chose a background of multi-coloured stripes (these tend to work best if there are wide enough stripes to make the top and bottom look neat) and added the little circles element and bits of bunting.

Just one set of stripes

Matching the t-shirt - with a bit of red here and there to add colour interest.

Find the main colours

Although pink and yellow seems an odd combination, these were the colours that stood out in the photos, especially when I added the ombre background. Wood effects and ombre are my favourite type of background so this was a two-fer. No photo of your mum on Mother's Day? Find one from your childhood!

Go Retro

This photo was taken late in the afternoon so it already looked a bit dark but I ran it through a filter in some-app-or-other to get more of a retro effect. Then I chose the stripey page background and retro sunglasses to go with it. The white background beneath the photo and the uplifted photo mat make the rather dull photo more interesting.
